Save the Date: The Vagina Monologues

Save the Date: The Vagina Monologues

This year's Memphis performance of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues is next weekend at Circuit Playhouse in Overton Square.

If you're not familiar, The Vagina Monologues is a production that features heartfelt monologues about the female experience from different perspectives. Some are funny, some serious, and some sad. This year's Memphis performance features a cast of diverse local women, ranging in age from 22 to 70. They'll perform the theatrical monologues in addition to two pieces making their Memphis debut.

The show runs at 7:30 p.m. for three nights, from Feb. 13 to 15, at the Circuit Playhouse. Tickets are $20 per person, $15 for students, and $10 per person for groups of 10 or more. You can buy them here. Due to some language, the show is probably best for older teens and adults.

I highly recommend showing up a few minutes early and hanging out in the lobby (doors open at 6 p.m.) to take advantage of the cash bar, prize raffles, and socializing. I also recommend getting tickets now, because the Friday and Saturday shows tend to sell out.

Aside from fees for using The Vagina Monologues script, all proceeds go to Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region's health, education, and advocacy programs.
