365 Things to Do in Memphis #68: See Work By Memphis' Up and Coming Student Artists
Assignment #68 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to see some of Memphis' up-and-coming artists for free.
Memphis College of Art students exhibit their work in the galleries at the Overton Park campus and the downtown campus. The work ranges in terms of skill and style, but it's always interesting and the exhibits change frequently.
When I visited the downtown gallery this week, there was a framed, spray painted mirror, a "brain" made of fabric, photography, paintings and mixed media work. Occasionally, you can catch shows by visiting artists and professors.
The galleries are free. Just let the desk workers know you'd like to see the work and you'll be able to get in.
