Two Contests, One Awesome Internship and the 363rd Memphian

365 Memphians - Gwin Scott

363 / 365

Gwin Scott is the president of Emerge Memphis. Emerge is a pretty cool place - it's an incubator, meaning that they provide support (and office space) to small, start-up businesses and gets them ready to move out and grow.

In other news:

- The Brooks Museum of art is partnering with students from Westwood High School, Hutchison, and Trezevant High School for a special photography exhibit called "Peaceful Warriors: Aim for Change". They're asking you to vote on your favorite student works via Facebook - the 20 photos with the most likes will be exhibited at the Brooks from Janurary 21 - March 25 (the rest will be shown electronically in the gallery).

- If you're itching to decorate something, the Memphis Flyer is calling for artists to decorate their newsstands. You have to turn in a proposal, but no level of actual artistic training is required. Here are the details.

- I've got a pretty awesome spring internship opportunity for a college junior, senior or graduate student studying journalism, new media or public relations. It's unpaid, but the perks are pretty great. Here's how to apply.
